Aj keď sám nie som veriaci, nemám nič proti viere ako takej. Považujem ju za akúsi barlu, ktorá pomáha pri chôdzi, ale prekáža pri behu. Zato veľmi obdivujem ľudí, ktorí dokážu hlboko, celým srdcom veriť. A náboženstvá vo všeobecnosti vidím ako fascinujúci komponent ľudských spoločenských systémov.

Nenávidím však bigotnosť a ľudí, ktorí vieru predstierajú a zneužívajú pre vlastné ciele.

Úplne najhoršie je, ak ju zneužívajú politici. Jeden príklad za všetky:

A new young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to help the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand. In a choking voice, the old abbot replies: "The word is celebrate, not celibate!"

Svätý Peter dodáva: "vieš, je to zvláštne, on tvrdí, že naňho čakáš, a pozná sa aj s Ježišom" Ale nič sa nedá robiť, Pánboh si nespomína na žiadneho človeka menom Papeš. Svätý Peter nakoniec ide ešte raz k bráne vyzistiť viac informácií o návštevníkovi. Odrazu pribehne naspäť k Pánovi a kričí: "šéfe, tak tomuto neuveríš! pamätáš na ten rybársky zväz, čo sme založili pred dvomi tisícmi rokov - tak ten ešte stále funguje!"

Túto a dalšie dve „rituálne“ vraždy spáchala skupina hippies, ktorá si hovorí Rodina, a ktorú celkom ovládal ich vodca Charles Manson. Skupina žila v kalifornskej púšti, odkial organizovala vražedné výpravy proti ludom, ktorí podla Mansonovej filozofie žili zhýralo a mali byt za svoje hriechy potrestaní. 19. september 1985 - Filipínsky casopis Times Journal oznámil, že na ostrove Mindanao sa otrávilo 60 príslušníkov kmena Ata na príkaz svojho velkoknaza Data Mangayanona, ktorý im slúbil, že po požití jedu uvidia Božiu tvár. 1. november 1986 - Na pláži Vakajama v západnom Jordánsku sa upálilo sedem žien. Príslušnícky Cirkvi priatelov pravdy vysvetlili vo svojom liste na rozlúcku, že sa rozhodli obetovat svoje životy po smrti duchovného vodcu sekty Kijohara Mijamota. august 1987 - V meste Jongin nedaleko Soulu v Južnej Kórei našli 32 mrtvych clenov sekty, ktorú založila knažka a „bohyna“ Pak Sun-dža. Podla jedného muža, ktorého matka a 15-rocná sestra pri rituáli zomreli, slúžil vodca náboženskej sekty Federico Padres Mejía vo svojom dome cierne omše a podla povestí konal zázraky a dobré skutky. marec, apríl 1993 - 95 clenov Davidiánskej sekty sa zabarikádovalo na farme Apocalypsa v blízkosti amerického mestecka Waco v Texase po tom, co sa agenti Federálneho úradu pre vyšetrovanie (FBI) pokúsili zatknút ich vodcu Davida Koresha pre nedovolené ozbrojovanie sa. Obliehanie farmy trvalo 51 dní a skoncilo sa 19. apríla požiarom celej farmy. Medzi 86 mrtvymi sa našlo aj Koreshovo telo a 17 detí. október 1993 - Vo vietnamskej provincii Son La v ocakávaní konca sveta spáchalo samovraždu 52 clenov Sekty zániku sveta na príkaz samozvaného „krála“. 5. október 1994 - Mrtvych 48 príslušníkov Rádu chrámu slnka objavili v západnom Švajciarsku. V rovnakom case zahynuli v Kanade pri požiari dvaja ludia. O den neskôr našla kanadská polícia dalšie tri mrtve telá. Na cele sekty, ktorá ucí, že jej clenovia sa po rituálnej samovražde „prebudia“ na planéte nazvanej Sirius, stál údajne kanadský homeopat švajciarskeho pôvodu Luc Jouret a duchovným a financným šéfom bol Joseph Di Mambro. Polícia nevylúcila ani prepojenie sekty s medzinárodným obchodom so zbranami ci praním špinavých penazí. 23. december 1995 - Pri prehladávaní náhornej plošiny masívu Vercors pri Grenobli v juhovýchodnom Francúzsku objavili policajti obhoreté telá väcšiny zo 16 nezvestných clenov Rádu chrámu slnka. Medzi mrtvymi bolo osem Francúzov a rovnaký pocet Talianov. 23. marec 1997 - Požiarnici privolaní k požiaru domu, patriacemu clenovi Rádu chrámu slnka v kanadskom mestecku St. Casimir, objavili telá troch Francúzok a dvoch Švajciarov, ktorí spáchali rituálnu samovraždu. 27. marec 1997 - 39 clenov kultu Nebeská brána našli vo vile v Rancho Santa Fe pri San Diegu v Kalifornii, ked predtým zjedli puding alebo jablkovú štavu, do ktorej primiešali smrtiacu drogu. „Akciu“ údajne zorganizoval Marshall Apllewhite, ktorý slúbil svojim stúpencom, že sa povznesú na „vyššiu úroven“. Podla rozhlasových správ patrili ku kvázináboženskej skupine pocítacových „surferov“ na Internete. 5. október 1998 - Šest clenov náboženskej sekty Cirkev vecného života sa upálilo v juhokórejskom Soule. Kolektívnu samovraždu zorganizoval pätdesiattrirocný pastor sekty Wu Cong-min. Jeho zuholnatené telo našli vedla tiel piatich žiakov v dodávkovom aute. Proti islamu sa podla súdu v metropole ostrovnej republiky v Indickom oceáne prehrešil aj Ali Toibibou, u ktorého našli krestanskú literatúru. Po štyroch rokoch ucenia sa budhistickej sutry v Pekingu sa devätrocný chlapec, ktorého cínski predstavitelia vybrali za druhú najsvätejšiu osobu Tibetu, vracia k svojmu ludu. Privítanie mladého pancenlámu však nebolo nadšené, o bezpecnost bolo dobre postarané. Nato je však dobrý dôvod. Existujú totiž dvaja pancenlámovia - jeden, ktorého vybral Peking, a druhý, ktorého vybral dalajláma, najvyšší tibetský duchovný. Hoci on sám musel v roku 1959 utiect do exilu, doteraz velí srdciam budhistických veriacich v himalájskom regióne. Ak Cína dúfala, že návrat svojho pancenlámu využije na preverenie lojality bežných Tibetanov alebo na odhadnutie jeho popularity, dostala odpoved. Príbeh dvoch pancenlámov je tragédiou dvoch nevinných chlapcov v nelútostnom boji o moc. Poza ich chrbty sa starší mnísi a komunistické kádre bijú o dušu tibetského budhizmu a v širšom zmysle o politickú budúcnost Cínou ovládaného Tibetu. Boj sa zacal v roku 1989, ked pancenláma po desiatich rokoch v cínskom väzení umrel v kláštore v Taši Lunpche, duchovnom sídle pancenlámov v Šigate. Po jeho smrti Peking poveril mníchov z kláštora, aby našli nového pancenlámu, reinkarnovaného podla budhistickej viery do inej bytosti. V rovnakom case dalajláma a jeho exilová vláda v indickej Dharamsale tiež zacali hladat nového nástupcu. Kedže snaha o nájdenie spolocného kandidáta nebola úspešná, dalajláma jednostranne oznámil v máji 1995 svojho kandidáta, zatial co Peking tak urobil o niekolko mesiacov neskôr. Situáciu Peking vyriešil svojským spôsobom -dalajlámovho ani nie desatrocného chlapca s jeho rodinou dal uväznit a opáta kláštora zodpovedného za hladanie pancenlámu posadil do väzenia za vlastizradu. Návrat pancenlámu tak iba zvýraznil neúspech pekinskej snahy o znicenie dalajlámovej legitímnosti v Tibete. V istom zmysle je chladné privítanie pancenlámu vítazstvom dalajlámu a jeho medzinárodnej kampane za autonómiu Tibetu. Avšak, politický boj o pancenlámov nemá žiadnych vítazov. Fiasko okolo výberu nového pancenlámu mohlo iba presvedcit Peking, že jeho snaha vybabrat so 65-rocným držitelom Nobelovej ceny je zbytocná. Avšak nic nenasvedcuje tomu, že Peking hodlá s dalajlámom rokovat o budúcnosti Tibetu. A tak je dalajlámov chlapec odsúdený strávit svoj život ako zajatec a Pekingom zvoleného pancenlámu zasa caká život zajatca v zlatej klietke. (SME) (REUTERS, mbk) 8. July 1999

Prívrženec Svetovej cirkvi Stvoritela „vo veci bielych ludí“ zastrelil dvoch a zranil devät ludí // „Bol to milý clovek, ktorý veril vo vec svojich ludí, vo vec bielych ludí,“ týmito slovami charakterizoval Matt Hale, duchovný vodca Svetovej cirkvi Stvoritela (World Church of the Creator) B. N. Smitha. Tento „milý“ clovek bol pocas minulého víkendu postrachom Americanov - za tri dni dvoch ludí zastrelil a dalších devät zranil. Jeho trojdnová vražedná túra mala rasový charakter - všetci postihnutí sú Židia, cernosi alebo Americania ázijského pôvodu. 21-rocný Smith nakoniec, tesne pred tým, ako ho zadržala americká polícia, spáchal samovraždu. Žial, další clenovia cirkvi vrátane „najvyššieho stvoritela“ Matta Halea sú ešte na slobode. Pritom ich cirkevná ideológia je pomerne zlocinne jednoduchá - jediný, kto má právo žit na tejto Zemi, je beloch. „Najvyšším prikázaním je robit veci dobre pre belochov, najhorším hriechom je cinit cokolvek, co je pre belochov zlé,“ tak znie hlavné prikázanie tejto sekty, ktorú založil ukrajinský emigrant Ben Klassen v roku 1973. Internetové zdroje uvádzajú, že v roku 1993 spáchal takisto samovraždu - žial, tiež až po tom, ako jedna z jeho oveciek na základe ucenia jeho Bielej biblie, ktorú napísal v roku 1981, ubila na smrt námorníka - samozrejme, cernocha. Súcasný vodca cirkvi Matt Hale zrejme nehodlá svojho predchodcu nasledovat. Naopak, záujem médií po hroznom cine jeho „duchovného“ spolupútnika ho viditelne teší. „Vinit z cinov Smitha, to je ako pripisovat pápežovi vinu za fanatické vraždy jeho stúpencov, tých, ktorí vraždia gynekológov vykonávajúcich potraty,“ tvrdí Hale. Tento súcasný duchovný vodca sa venuje aj „vedeckému“ zdokonalovaniu ideológie zakladatela cirkvi Bena Klassena. K svojim prevratným objavom radí zistenie, že Zem je preplnená, a „preto je treba urobit všetko, aby iné rasy než biela nezaberali na tejto zemi tie najlepšie miesta“. V jeho vyhlásení sa dalej hovorí: „Nebudeme predsa tým špinavým rasám pomáhat v ich rozmnožovaní sa, nedovolíme preludnenie našej planéty.“ Najväcším nepriatelom cirkvi sú pritom židia. Internetová stránka cirkvi bola ešte do pondelka volne prístupná verejnosti, vcera už zo siete zmizla. Americania dúfajú, že osud internetovej stránky coskoro postihne aj fanatickú cirkev. Aj keby sa tak stalo, americká legislatíva sa bude musiet už coskoro zamysliet nad príliš liberálnou dikciou zákona, ktorá podporuje cinnost cirkví - napriek tomu, že cirkvi sa v poslednom case stávajú zámienkou grupovania sa najrôznejších skupín indivíduí, ktoré sú evidentne duševne choré. Kombinácia slepej viery s právom každého Americana vlastnit zbran je skutocne smrtiacim koktailom. Za posledné roky v mene viery v USA zavraždili desiatky ludí - najcastejšou obetou sú pritom zástancovia potratov a ludia inej než bielej rasy.
